Police are trying to track down a driver behind a dangerous hit-and-run incident during traffic on Deerfoot Trail.

CPS says two vehicles were damaged in the incident northbound on Deerfoot from Memorial Drive NE.

“It’s believed (a black Ford Explorer SUV) was driving erratically, swerving in and out of lanes and conducting unsafe lane changes,” reads a news release, “as the vehicle attempted to make a lane change, it side-swiped a 2021 grey Acura RDX in the second lane.”

From there the Acura veered out of control before striking another vehicle on the road, and both came to rest on a shoulder of the Deerfoot.

Police say the black SUV, which has black steel rims, immediately fled the scene and was last seen heading eastbound on 16 Ave NE.

The incident took place Oct. 26 at approximately 2:55 p.m.

CPS want anyone with dashcam footage or may have witnessed the incident to contact them.
