A pedestrian is dead after being hit by a vehicle on Stoney Trail NE in Calgary late Tuesday night.
Police say it happened just before 11 p.m. on a section of the ring road near McKnight Boulevard NE.
Area roads were closed for several hours overnight and into the morning to allow for investigation, but reopened to traffic around 6 a.m. Wednesday.
This incident marks the fourth pedestrian death on Calgary roads in 2026.
Last year, 15 pedestrians lost their lives on Calgary roads — a 225 per cent increase year over year, and an 11-year high.
An investigation into this most recent incident continues.
