Calgary police say two men are facing a combined 23 charges after they pulled them over and found firearms and $19,000 worth of drugs in their vehicle in early December.
They say the arrest happened on Dec. 11, days after they became aware of the two men believed to be engaging in drug trafficking.
Officers spotted two men, 19-year-old Ali Abdullah Ahmadi and 23-year-old Mustafa Ahmadi, after a suspected drug deal was made in Red Carpet, a community in the city’s southeast.
The pair were taken into custody, after which police searched the vehicle.
Suspected cocaine, fentanyl, crack cocaine, and heroin, along with 47 oxycodone pills, worth a combined $19,000, were seized. Two loaded handguns and a little over $5,000 in cash were also seized.

Police say the two suspects each face 11 charges, including four counts of possession of controlled substances for the purpose of trafficking, one count of careless storage of a firearm, and possession of a firearm. Ali Ahmadi faces an additional charge of breaching a probation order.
The two are expected to appear in court on Jan. 2.
