A woman found dead in a northeast Calgary home in 2022 was the victim of a homicide, according to police.
Calgary police were called to a home on 14 Avenue NE just east of Edmonton Trail NE around 6:45 p.m. on Aug. 20, 2022 for reports of a body found at an abandoned home.
Officers arrived to find a woman’s body inside and investigators called the death suspicious, saying she likely died several days before her body was found.
An autopsy identified the victim as 54-year-old Rhonda Waite, who also goes by Rhonda Joroszek.
In the past two and a half years, witnesses have come forward and police say they can now rule her death a homicide.
Police are asking for anyone who had contact with Rhonda prior to her death, or anyone who was in the area around when her body was found, to reach out to them.
The home where she was discovered has since been demolished. Police have released of what the house looked like in August 2022 (seen above).
“Even though two and a half years have passed, any information about Rhonda can have a significant impact on the investigation,” says Staff Sgt. Mark Rahn of the CPS Homicide Unit in a statement. “We have been in contact with some witnesses, but believe there are more individuals who have information in relation to this homicide.”
